Canals in the Leigh area

For those who enjoy a day on the canal the Association leases the canal from the Plank Lane swing bridge (Slag Lane, Leigh to the bridge over the East Lancashire Road) approximately 2.5 mile stretch. The canal holds stocks of roach, perch, carp, bream, pike and tench.

Matches on the canal can be very enjoyable. Tench and bream along with a few roach and perch can provide an excellent days fishing.  Please note that keepnets can be used ONLY in matches
